Freshwater Independent Lifeboat Secure for next 50 Years

The Trustees of the Freshwater Independent Lifeboat signed on Sunday, 22 April 2018 a new lease that secures the future of their lifeboat station for the next 50 years. This marks a key milestone in achieving their five year plan to improve the slipway and enhance the boathouse in Freshwater to overcome an ongoing struggle with the buildup of shingle. These plans are estimated to cost £1.5m and this new lease provides security to anyone wishing to donate money that we are here to stay in the bay for at least 50 years. Richard Barton-Wood, Trainee Coxswain, Treasurer and Trustee, who led the lease negotiations with the Isle of Wight County Council said “I’d like to thank Matthew Barrow, Partner of Lester Aldridge Solicitor in Southampton and Martin Hastelow, Head of Office, Savills in Southampton for their help and expertise in making this happen.
