Ripley Bonfire Draws 10,000 for Spectacular 133rd Year Bash
The Ripley Bonfire, one of the South East’s biggest and best-supported events, lit up the Village Cricket Fields in Green, attracting a whopping 10,000 party-goers this year for its 133rd celebration.
Fireworks, Funfair and Food Galore
Visitors enjoyed more than just the blazing bonfire and breathtaking fireworks display. An extensive funfair, tasty food stalls, and a buzzing bar with perfect views kept the festive atmosphere alive. Live music added to the buzz, making it a full-on night to remember.
Community Spirit Ignites the Night
The event relies heavily on public donations to keep the legendary bonfire burning year after year. All proceeds support the Ripley Over 60’s Club and other local groups. Without the community’s generosity, this cherished tradition wouldn’t be possible.
Tribute to a Bonfire Legend
Amid the celebrations, sadness lingered as the close-knit Bonfire Crew mourned the loss of long-time supporter Ron Gibbs. Ron, who had recently been unwell, was still helping build the bonfire just weeks ago.
“All of the Bonfire boys and girls have a story to tell about Ron. He will be sorely missed by all of us at Ripley Bonfire,” said a spokesperson. “We send our very best to his family and will be sending some fireworks his way tonight.”
