Gas Blast and Building Collapse in Ealing Sparks Major Rescue Operation
Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams are battling to save lives following a suspected gas explosion and building collapse on King Street, Ealing.
Five Rescued as Search Dogs Sniff Through Rubble
Firefighters have pulled four adults and one child to safety from the rear of the damaged building using ladders. Specially trained USAR dogs are scouring the debris to sniff out anyone trapped inside.
Station Commander Paul Morgan said: “Our crews continue to search the property using specialist equipment including the use of USAR dogs. Sadly, we believe there are fatalities within the property, although we can’t confirm numbers yet.”
Heavy Damage and Caution Urged
The explosion tore through a local shop, causing serious structural damage. Firefighters are working carefully to stabilise the scene while continuing their search.
“It’s a painstaking and prolonged operation,” added Commander Morgan. “We urge the public to avoid the area while we carry out this critical work.”
