Seafront Horror as Hotel Wall Crashes onto Coach
A chunk of Folkestone’s infamous Grand Burstin Hotel smashed into the road and a parked coach today, injuring two people and sparking a major safety scare.
Coach Driver and Holidaymaker Hurt in Collapse
Just before 4.30pm, part of the hotel’s front wall gave way, smashing down onto a Just Go! Holidays coach loaded with passengers on a festive turkey and tinsel break. Both the coach driver and a holidaymaker were rushed to hospital by emergency services.
“Just Go! Holidays can confirm that one of its coaches was involved in an incident while parked outside the Burstin Hotel in Folkestone earlier today,” a company spokesman said. “We are offering every assistance possible.”
Road Closed as Firefighters Investigate Danger
The collapse has blocked Harbour Approach Road, shutting access past the hotel and trapping the area from South Street to Folkestone Harbour. Firefighters have cordoned off the scene and are inspecting the structure for further risks amid high winds.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended following reports of two people hit by falling rendering in high winds. We dispatched a unit and secured the area for public safety,” a fire service spokesman confirmed.
A forensic officer was seen photographing the scene, yet there’s no word on when the road will reopen.
Grand Burstin’s Dark Cloud Continues
The Grand Burstin’s woes keep mounting. The seafront hotel has just been branded the UK’s worst for the tenth year running, adding fuel to an already fiery reputation.
