Seafront Horror: Hotel Wall Crashes onto Coach in Folkestone

A chunk of the Grand Burstin Hotel’s frontage plunged onto a holiday coach yesterday, injuring two people during their festive turkey and tinsel break. The terrifying collapse has shut the A260 Harbour Approach Road, leaving the iconic hotel’s harbour access blocked.

Coach Driver and Tourist Hurt in Collapse

The incident happened just before 4.30pm when part of the stressed seafront structure gave way. The falling debris smashed onto a Just Go! Holidays coach parked outside, which was ferrying visitors on a five-day Folkestone and Canterbury getaway.

“One of our coaches was involved in an incident while parked outside the Burstin Hotel earlier today,” confirmed a Just Go! Holidays spokesman. “Our coach driver and one of our customers were taken to hospital by emergency services.”

“Our priority is the safety and well-being of those involved and our hotel guests. We are offering every assistance possible.”

Firefighters and Police Close Road Amid Safety Checks

Kent Fire and Rescue responded swiftly after reports of falling debris in strong winds. A fire crew sealed off the A260 from South Street to Folkestone Harbour as they inspected the dangerous structure.

Two victims were handed over to SECAmb paramedics, while Kent Police attended the scene. A forensic officer also photographed the site to aid investigations. Officials have yet to say when the road will reopen.

Grand Burstin’s Long Run of Trouble Continues

The Grand Burstin Hotel, long a blight on Folkestone’s seafront, has just been named the UK’s worst hotel for the tenth year running. The recent collapse adds a worrying chapter to its stormy history.

The Grand Burstin has been contacted for comment but no response has been received yet.
