Massive Blaze Rips Through Essex Recycling Centre
Firefighters are battling a fierce fire at the James Waste Management facility in Rochford. Thick black smoke is billowing across the area, turning skies dark and sparking safety warnings for locals.
Multiple Fire Crews Tackling Huge Inferno
Essex County Fire & Rescue Service sprang into action after receiving 15 calls reporting the blaze at the recycling centre on Purdeys Way. Initial crews from Southend and Leigh rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they called for backup, summoning three more teams from Rochford, Hawkwell, and Shoeburyness to tackle the flames devouring around 150 tonnes of refuse.
Residents Urged to Stay Safe Amid Smoke Plume
“Firefighters are currently at the scene of a fire at a recycling centre in Purdeys Way, Rochford,” said a spokesperson. “If you are nearby, please keep your windows and doors shut as lots of smoke is coming from the scene.”
The fire is being tackled section by section, with crews working hard to bring it under control. James Waste Management, known as one of the UK’s leading waste firms handling thousands of tonnes weekly, is assessing the damage.
