The total confirmed coronavirus cases in Scotland have surged to 63,913, with 1,101 new infections recorded in the last 24 hours alone.

The official Covid death toll stands at 2,843. However, weekly data from the National Records of Scotland indicates the true number of suspected Covid deaths could be over 4,400 – revealing a worrying gap.
Hotspots and Hospital Pressure
- Greater Glasgow and Clyde: 374 new cases
- Lanarkshire: 317 new cases
- Lothian: 121 new cases
- Ayrshire and Arran: 84 new cases
- Other health boards combined: remaining cases
Hospitals are under strain with 1,149 patients confirmed or suspected to have Covid-19. Of these, 80 are battling the virus in intensive care units.
