Tragic Crash Claims Life of 62-Year-Old Biker on A85

John Campbell Dickson, 62, from Doune, has died following a crash on the A85 near Connel.

Fatal Collision on A85

At around 3.20pm on Friday, 2 April 2021, a black Kawasaki motorbike collided with a black Mitsubishi Outlander east of Connel. Emergency services rushed Mr Dickson to Lorne and Islands District and General Hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Road Closure and Investigation

The A85 was shut for about nine hours while police conducted a full collision inquiry. Officers are urgently seeking witnesses to help piece together what happened.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Inspector Archie McGuire of Police Scotland’s Argyll & West Dunbartonshire Road Policing Unit said:

“Our thoughts go out to Mr Dickson’s family at this difficult time. We want to speak to anyone with information about the crash, especially the driver of a white Transit-type van who was nearby when the incident occurred. We also appeal for anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward.”
