Tragic Death on Piccadilly Line Shuts Down Turnham Green Station
British Transport Police rushed to Turnham Green station just after 7pm after reports of a person injured on the tracks. Despite emergency crews’ efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Services Halted and Chaos for Commuters
The fatal incident forced a suspension of Piccadilly line services from Stamford Brook. Passengers were left stunned as their train was reversed back to the station. Thankfully, Turnham Green station reopened within two hours, but the disruption was felt across the line.
Police Investigate Third Tragic Incident in Just Over a Year
Officers are now working to identify the victim and notify their next of kin. The death isn’t being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
This marks the third fatality at Turnham Green station in just over a year. A similar tragedy occurred on 28 March, and four months before that, 41-year-old Shivahar Sirikananathan from Isleworth died at the station after jumping in front of a train.
