Fatal Collision Shuts Motorway for Hours
A tragic crash on the M26 has claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl. The smash happened on the westbound carriageway between junctions 44 and 43 at around 1.30am this morning, Monday 15 April.
Lorry Involved in Fatal Collision
The teenager was struck by a lorry and died instantly at the scene. Emergency services rushed to the spot, but nothing could be done to save her.
Road Closures and Witness Appeal
The motorway was closed in both directions, with the eastbound side reopening at 6.40am. The westbound carriageway remained shut until 11.40am as investigators cleared the scene.
Police are urgently appealing for witnesses. Motorists driving in the area at the time with dashcams are asked to review and share their footage. Any piece of evidence could help unlock what really happened.
