Car Blaze Erupts on Top Floor of Maidstone’s The Mall
A white Audi Q7 erupted in flames just before noon on Friday, setting the roof of Maidstone’s The Mall shopping centre alight. The driver, a woman, managed to escape unscathed as the fire quickly engulfed her vehicle.
Firefighters Battle Blazing Audi Amid Thick Smoke
The fire broke out around 11.30am, sending thick black smoke spiralling into the sky. Two fire engines rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze. The Audi was badly damaged before crews could bring the flames under control.
Fire Damage Spreads to Three Nearby Cars
The intense heat also damaged three other vehicles parked close by. Among the stricken cars were a Tesla, a Nissan Micra, and a BMW. Mall security swiftly cordoned off the top floor car park while investigators probed the cause of the fire.
The Mall Reassures Shoppers Despite Incident
“Earlier this morning, an Audi Q7 caught fire while driving on the top floor of our parking garage,” a Mall spokesman said. “The driver called the fire department, which responded quickly and extinguished the fire.” “Unfortunately, the fire damaged three other cars, but no one was injured. “Our security staff cordoned off the affected area and will keep it closed until the damaged vehicles are removed. The rest of the car park and shopping centre remain open as usual.”
