Two Hurt in Shocking A13 Hit-and-Run Chaos
Two people suffered minor injuries in a multi-vehicle hit-and-run crash on the A13 near Chafford Hundred this morning. The smash sparked a total shutdown of the eastbound carriageway during rush hour.
Four Vehicles Involved – One Fled the Scene
Essex Police rushed to the mess at around 6:45am after reports of a pile-up. They found three cars tangled in the wreckage but confirmed a fourth vehicle fled before officers arrived.
Emergency crews swiftly took two injured individuals to hospital. Thankfully, their injuries are not serious.
Traffic Nightmare as Lanes Closed
All three lanes of the A13 eastbound, between the A1089 and A1012 junctions, were closed, causing major traffic chaos for commuters.
Authorities have since cleared debris, with an announcement that lanes should reopen shortly.

“We’re continuing to investigate this incident and would urge anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward,” said a police spokesperson.
