Dramatic Ladder Rescue in Bembridge: Firefighters Save Injured Resident

The Isle of Wight fire and rescue service sprang into action last night in Bembridge, using an aerial ladder platform to evacuate an injured person from a property on Kings Road.

Aerial Ladder to the Rescue After Ambulance Call

Just after 9.30pm on Monday, ambulance crews were called to the scene. Due to difficult access, firefighters dispatched an aerial ladder from Newport to assist. A second fire engine from Bembridge 1 Station also responded, alongside paramedics and an ambulance officer.

Neck and Back Injury Prompts Careful Evacuation

Firefighters carefully positioned the basket of the ladder platform at the top balcony of the property. The injured resident, reportedly suffering neck and back injuries, was lifted into the basket and gently lowered to ground level. From there, they were transferred to an awaiting ambulance and taken to hospital.

Road Closure Causes Brief Disruption

Kings Road was closed throughout the rescue operation but has since reopened to traffic.
