Aldi and Tesco Hit by Food Safety Warnings!

Shoppers beware! Aldi and Tesco have issued urgent “do not eat” warnings on several products this week. Concerns range from possible shards of glass found in food to dodgy use-by dates on meat.

Tesco Recall: Glass in Sandwich Pickle

Tesco is recalling its Tesco Sandwich Pickle after fears of small pieces of glass inside the jar. The affected batch is a 295g jar, code 3254, with a best-before date of 11 September 2025.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has told customers NOT to consume the product. Anyone who bought it should return it to Tesco for a full refund. For more info, Tesco Customer Services is ready to help.

A Tesco spokesperson apologised for the scare and urged shoppers to return the pickle immediately rather than risk injury.

Aldi Recall: Pork Products with Wrong Use-By Dates

Aldi has warned shoppers not to eat two pork products after discovering incorrect use-by dates. The items affected are Ashfields Grill Chinese Pork Loin Steaks and BBQ Pork Loin Steaks, both in 500g packs with a use-by date of 22 June.

The supermarket’s supplier flagged up the fault and issued the recall as a safety precaution. Aldi customers should return the pork to their nearest store for a full refund.

What is a Product Recall?

A product recall happens when food is found unsafe or unsuitable for sale. It usually means the product must be removed from shelves and returned by customers. The Food Standards Agency issues official notices to warn shoppers and local authorities about risks.

In serious cases, a “Food Alert for Action” is dispatched to local authorities, telling them what steps to take to protect consumers.

Consumers are urged to stay alert to recalls and act quickly if they have bought affected products.
