Body Found in Search for Missing Walker Neil Cowking

A tragic end to the search for 85-year-old Neil Cowking. The pensioner vanished while on a walking holiday near River Breamish Caravan Park, Powburn, Northumberland. He was reported missing on Sunday.

Search Efforts Come to Heartbreaking Conclusion

Local teams and fellow walkers joined the hunt for Neil. Sadly, on Monday, a man’s body was discovered about two miles west of Ingram in the Breamish Valley. Formal ID is pending, but authorities believe the body is Neil’s.

Police Speak Out

Superintendent Brad Howe paid tribute to the missing man and those involved in the search. “This is an extremely tragic outcome. Our thoughts are with Neil’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” he said.

He added: “Thanks to everyone who helped, especially the Mountain Rescue Team and those who shared information. We do not suspect any third-party involvement. Once formal ID is complete, a coroner’s report will follow.”
