Blaze Hits Camberwell Flat – Four Engines Battle Fire

Four fire engines and 25 firefighters fought a fierce flat fire on Midnight Avenue in Camberwell last night. Half of a third-floor, four-room flat was gutted, with flames also damaging part of a fourth-floor balcony.

Residents Evacuate As Flames Spread

  • About 60 people fled the building before fire crews arrived.
  • One man needed treatment at the scene by London Ambulance Service.
  • Firefighters from Lambeth, Peckham, Brixton, and Old Kent Road stations joined the fight.

Fast Response Brings Fire Under Control

The Brigade was alerted at 8.55pm after 17 emergency calls about the blaze. Fire crews had the flames under control by 10pm.

Cause Likely Electrical Fault

Officials believe the fire started accidentally due to an electrical fault in a consumer unit. No serious injuries reported.
