Huge Blaze Hits Erith Warehouse
Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters have been scrambled to tackle a massive fire at a warehouse on Church Manorway, Erith.
Massive Warehouse Goes Up in Flames
The warehouse is a large, three-storey building split into 30 loading bays. Around 800 staff managed to evacuate safely before fire crews arrived.
Firefighters Battle Gruelling Blaze Into the Night
Station Commander Steve Vydelingum said: “Firefighters are working hard in hot and arduous conditions inside the warehouse. There are no reports of any injuries. The fire is very deep-seated and will be very protracted. Fire crews will be at the scene throughout the night.”
The fire brigade was called at 12:42pm. Fire crews from Bexley, Plumstead, Millwall, Lee Green, Greenwich, Eltham, and nearby stations are on site.
Cause of Fire Unknown
Officials have yet to determine what sparked the blaze.
