Massive Blaze Hits Mexborough High Street – Arson Suspected
A huge fire tore through a row of shops with flats above on Mexborough’s High Street, sparking fears of arson. Eight fire crews raced to the scene as flames engulfed buildings late into the evening.
Firefighters Battle Monster Blaze With Full Force
At the height of the inferno, fire engines and crews came from across South Yorkshire, including Dearne, Doncaster, Rotherham, and Barnsley. A turntable ladder was deployed to fight the flames from above.

Arson Investigation Underway
“It’s thought the fire was started deliberately,” confirmed South Yorkshire Fire Rescue.
The firefighting operation finally ended around 10pm. Fire crews were praised for their swift work, with thanks also going to police, ambulance services, and council teams for their joint efforts in keeping the community safe.
