Woman Stabbed While Walking Dog in Abingdon Woodland

Thames Valley Police are on the hunt after a woman was stabbed during a morning dog walk in Abingdon. At around 10.30am last Thursday, a woman in her fifties was approached in woodland near Clifton Drive by a young man.

The attacker covered her mouth and plunged a knife into her stomach before fleeing through the trees towards Clifton Drive. She was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, treated for a stab wound, and thankfully released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police Describe Suspect and Increase Patrols

The suspect is described as a white male, late teens, about 5ft 10ins tall, slim build. He wore black turn-up denim shorts, a light grey top, white and black trainers, and glasses.

Officers have ramped up patrols around Boxhill Park as the investigation intensifies. Detective Inspector Ali Driver of Force CID, Abingdon, said:

“I appreciate the community’s concern. Incidents like this are rare, and we’re making good progress. You’ll see more police presence while we investigate. We are keeping an open mind on the motive but this remains an absolute priority.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Inspector Driver is urging anyone in the area between 10am and 11am last Thursday who saw anything or recognises the suspect to come forward.

Arrest Made but Suspect Released Under Investigation

A 17-year-old local boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
