Major Ryde Road Set for Overnight Resurfacing Blitz
One of Ryde’s key routes on the Isle of Wight is about to get a much-needed makeover. Island Roads will begin resurfacing a stretch of Binstead Road – from the 1 Road roundabout through Queens Road all the way to Fiveways Junction. The work kicks off the week after the May Bank Holiday and will be carried out overnight to keep disruption to a minimum.
Night Works to Slash Traffic Hassles
Roadworks will run from 7.30pm to 6am, with full road closures during these hours. Outside this window, the road will be open, and pedestrian access won’t be affected. The upgrade is expected to last around twelve nights, including weekends, with a diversion in place to guide drivers around the works.
Keeping Ryde Moving, Despite the Disruption
“This is a busy route but I am sure road users and residents will agree that it is in need of an upgrade,” said project manager Derek Benfield. “It is inevitable that a scheme of this nature will involve some disruption but we hope to reduce this by undertaking the work at night and by weekend working, allowing us to complete the resurfacing in the shortest time.”
Island Roads has warned that additional night works might be needed to stay on schedule. Residents have already been informed through letters, and further updates will appear on local information boards before the work begins.
Get ready, Ryde – smoother roads are just around the corner!
