Godshill’s Main Road Set for Overnight Resurfacing Blitz in May
The key road cutting through Godshill village is getting a makeover come May. Island Roads will carry out resurfacing work overnight, from 7.30pm to 6am, to keep daytime disruption to a minimum.
Night-Time Roadworks to Avoid Peak Chaos
The resurfacing, part of the Highways PFI scheme, has been strategically timed outside the busy holiday season and scheduled on weekday nights. This move aims to ease inconvenience for both locals and visitors.
Two-Phase Plan Slashes Diversion Hassles
The project will roll out in two sections – first from 1 St to Church Hollow, then from Church Hollow to Hollow Lane.
- Work starts May 12th.
- Expected to last five nights in total.
- Night-time road closures with diversions in place.
- Road reopens each day by 6am.
- Pedestrian access remains open throughout.
Island Roads Engage Locals Ahead of Works
Island Roads staff have already consulted nearby residents and businesses. They’ll be back with a mobile visitor centre at the Old Smithy car park on Friday, April 29, between 12 noon and 3pm to discuss the scheme further.
“Businesses are eager to see this important stretch of road spruced up swiftly,” said project manager Derek Benfield. “We’ve planned the work to cause minimal disruption and look forward to everyone benefiting from a much-improved road surface soon.”
