One lane on Kingston Road, Portsmouth, remains shut after a car careered into a set of traffic lights just after 2pm today. A woman behind the wheel sustained injuries but they’re not believed to be serious.

Shop Owner Speaks Out After Harrowing Near-Miss
“I was upstairs in my flat when I heard a huge bang,” said the owner. “At first, I thought the scaffolding had fallen. It sounded like a bomb going off. One of my workers came upstairs saying a customer had nearly been hit by a car that smashed through the barriers and almost crashed into the shop. It was terrifying. I’m just so relieved everyone is okay.”
Firefighters Clear the Way as Recovery Team Arrives
Firefighters removed the safety barriers to clear the scene. Specialists from Boarhunt Garage winched the battered vehicle onto an accident recovery unit as police continued managing the traffic chaos.
