The burnt-out vehicle wasn’t just any car — it was specially equipped to help adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health conditions travel to medical appointments, visit family, and join community events. Now, that lifeline has gone up in smoke.

“Understandably, the people we support are upset and overwhelmed by what’s happened. The car they rely on has been obliterated. I would like to believe this was a freak fault, but given the time of the fire and the catastrophic damage to several cars, I’m not convinced.”
Police Hunt for Witnesses and CCTV Footage
Thankfully, no one was hurt. But the emotional toll on residents and staff has been heavy.
The care home is urging anyone with Ring doorbell or CCTV footage from the area — or those who saw suspicious behaviour — to come forward. Contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting crime ref: 0147 of 22/03/25 or message the care home manager privately.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
