Speedway fans at last Thursday’s Eastbourne clash got a sneak peek of the new ‘Wightlink’ Wizards development squad in action. But the real buzz? The Warriors’ mascot, Chad Wirtzfeld, gearing up to join them soon. You can spot Chad practicing hard before, during, and after matches at The Andrew Younie Smallbrook Stadium.

Young Speed Demon Ready to Race

Chad hits 15 in mid-August, making him eligible to compete in the Southern Development League and National League. The Blandford teen has been tearing up tracks since he was eight. Thanks to intense training at the Island’s speedway school, ‘My First Skid,’ Chad’s skills have rocketed.

Racing Talent Catches Eye of Big Names

GB Youth Manager Neil Vatcher and top grasstrack and longtrack promoters have taken notice of Chad’s meteoric rise. With fierce support from his family, Chad is eager to represent the Wizards and Warriors at the soonest opportunity. He also praised the Warriors’ team for their top-notch coaching and guidance.

“Martin (Widman) and I are absolutely delighted that Chad has committed to the Wizards and Warriors going forward,” said Warriors co-promoter Barry Bishop. “We have seen him improve rapidly over the past six months both on and off the track. Chad has terrific backing, a real hunger to succeed and we believe we can develop him further so he can reach his full potential and make speedway his career.”
