Schoolchild Hit by Van on Scooter in East Cowes

A child scooting home from school was rushed to hospital after a collision with a van in East Cowes this afternoon.

Crash Near Queensgate Primary Sparks Road Closure

The incident happened on Beatrice Avenue, just after 3.30pm, right after the school day ended. Paramedics from Isle of Wight Ambulance Service treated the young victim at the scene before they were taken to hospital.

Police Confirm No Life-Threatening Injuries

Hampshire Constabulary responded swiftly, closing the road temporarily while they investigated. A police spokesperson said:

“Officers were called at 3.15pm with reports of a collision on Beatrice Avenue, East Cowes. A van and a child on a scooter were involved. The child did not suffer life-threatening injuries.”

Road Reopened After Brief Closure

The road has now been reopened as police continue their enquiries into the crash.
