Co-op Issues Urgent Food Alert Over Anchovies Health Risk

Histamine Warning on Co-op Anchovies

The Co-op has pulled its 50g pack of Anchovies in Olive Oil from shelves. The “best before end” date is September 2023. Why? Because high levels of histamine pose a health risk.

Who’s at Risk?

Anyone sensitive to histamine should avoid these anchovies at all costs. Histamine can cause nasty reactions like:

  • Diarrhoea
  • Shortness of breath
  • Headaches
  • Skin irritation

What To Do If You Have This Product

Do not eat the anchovies. Instead, take them back to your nearest Co-op store for a full refund.

If you’re self-isolating or shielding, contact Co-op customer care on 0800 0686 727 or email [email protected] for help.
