Coastguard Rush to Rescue Woman With Broken Ankle at Shoreham
At 5:11 AM on April 4, 2024, the Coastguard launched a swift rescue mission at Shoreham RNLI station. A woman had slipped on jagged rock armour, suffering a nasty open fracture to her ankle.
Paramedics and Coastguard Join Forces
Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB) were already on scene, providing pain relief and comfort. Coastguard officers then stepped in, expertly strapping the casualty onto a specialised evacuation stretcher.
Using their expert training, the team carefully carried her off the hazardous rocks and handed her over to an ambulance waiting nearby.
Off to Worthing A&E for Urgent Care
The injured woman was rushed to Worthing A&E for further treatment. The early morning rescue highlights how quickly accidents can happen along the coastline.
Stay Alert, Stay Safe on the Coast
The Coastguard has urged the public to exercise extra caution near coastal areas. They warn visitors to remain vigilant at all times, especially on slippery or uneven terrain.
If anyone witnesses an emergency or spots someone in distress on the coast, they must dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard immediately.
