Police Car Ends Up Perched on Hedge in Dramatic South Devon Crash
A marked police car took a wild detour off the road and became lodged atop a hedge in south Devon on Monday afternoon. The bizarre incident near St Ann’s Chapel on the B3392 sparked temporary traffic chaos.
Police Car Suspended Above Roadside Hedge
The crash happened just after 12:30pm when the police vehicle left the road and came to rest in an almost impossible position, suspended above a roadside bank. Shocking images from the scene show the police car precariously perched on the hedge while officers and two extra patrol cars scrambled to manage the scene.
No Injuries as Road Reopens After Delay
Thankfully, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed no one was hurt in this single-vehicle drama. The B3392 was shut down temporarily to clear the wreckage and traffic resumed around 2:45pm.
“There were no injuries reported and the road was reopened once the recovery was complete,” said a police spokesperson.
Crash Circumstances Still Under Scrutiny
It remains unclear if the officers were responding to an emergency when the crash happened. Police have launched an investigation but have yet to release any further details. No other vehicles were involved, and drivers were warned to steer clear of the area during the closure.
