Trading Standards teams on the Isle of Wight have flagged a new scam sweeping the island. Locals are receiving phone calls claiming to be from Domestic and General, warning that their washing machine cover is about to expire.

The fraudsters then ask for names, addresses, and bank details – but this is a trap. It’s a total scam.
“Genuine businesses would never ask for personal information over the phone,” warned Trading Standards.
If you get one of these calls, hang up and report it immediately.
