Dover Launches Pay-What-You-Can Café in Community Boost

Dover has unveiled its first pay-what-you-can community café, a beacon of support for locals. Meanwhile, Pembury is making waves with brand-new accessible donkey stables tailored for people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.

Not to be outdone, Thanet has opened its first baby bank, helping vulnerable pregnant residents get the support they desperately need.

Kent Crowdfund Sparks Community Revolution

These groundbreaking projects are part of Crowdfund Kent, a game-changing initiative powered by Spacehive, the UK’s leading crowdfunding platform. The scheme is so successful it’s now catching on with other councils nationwide.

Kent County Council has earmarked a whopping £500,000 for Crowdfund Kent. So far, around £300,000 in grants (up to £15,000 each) have been pledged. On top of that, community generosity has raked in over £875,000 to fund these innovative ideas.

Leaders Praise Community Spirit

“We’re so delighted at the far-reaching impact our Crowdfund Kent projects are already having across our county,” said Kent County Council Leader Roger Gough. “They showcase the best of our Kent communities and demonstrate the power of community and voluntary organisations. Preserving the community spirit we saw during the pandemic benefits everyone.”

“The response has been fantastic, and we’re eager to see what other ideas are waiting for their moment. Whether your idea is just a thought or ready to roll, we want to hear from you.”

“The broad range of projects coming forward in Kent has been really inspiring,” said Spacehive CEO Misha Dhanak. “Thousands of residents, councils, local businesses and organisations have backed these initiatives. We’re proud to be part of this programme and can’t wait to see what’s next to transform Kent communities.”
