East Sussex Fire Service Spreads Christmas Cheer with Fundraising Frenzy
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has been overwhelmed by the festive spirit as communities across East Sussex and Brighton & Hove rallied behind their Christmas fundraising efforts for The Fire Fighters Charity.
Saving Santa and Rope Rescue Thrills at Battle Fire Station
Despite soggy weather, Battle Fire Station threw a cracking ‘Saving Santa’ event packed with family fun. Locals enjoyed hot drinks, food stalls, and a raffle, plus a chance to meet firefighters and learn about home safety. The crowd’s favourite? A daring rope rescue demonstration where firefighters heroically saved Santa from the Grinch’s clutches, delighting kids and grown-ups alike.
Santa’s Tour of Eastbourne Raises Over £2,600
Santa, backed by brave firefighters, brought festive joy to Eastbourne from 14th to 23rd December 2023. Their merry tour raised more than £2,600. On 22nd December, the Fire Station hosted a special event attracting over 120 visitors, all keen to see the big man in red up close.
Preston Circus Collection Nets Nearly £3,900 for Charity
On 21st and 22nd December, East Sussex Fire and Rescue teams, volunteers, and locals banded together at Preston Circus Fire Station in Brighton for their annual charity collection. Their stirring efforts raised an impressive £3,876.89 to support firefighters in need.
Chief Fire Officer Launches Christmas Challenge
Marking The Fire Fighters Charity’s 80th birthday, Chief Fire Officer Dawn Whittaker kicked off the ‘Chief’s Christmas Challenge’ with an £800 donation. The challenge saw staff bake sales raise £60, Uckfield Fire Cadets’ tombola bring in £165, plus a staff carol concert, plant sale, quiz, and a raffle through the Youth Engagement team, adding a further £72.
