Shock Snap: Eclipse Bus Driver Caught Texting at the Wheel
An Eclipse bus driver was caught red-handed using a mobile phone while driving a packed bus through Gosport. With around 30 passengers on board, the driver risked everyone’s safety on a busy stretch known for sharing space with cyclists and emergency vehicles.
Passenger Snaps Driver Texting on Busy Route
The bus, running the Gosport-Fareham route, was cruising at about 40mph along Wych Lane and Hutfield Link when an 18-year-old Fareham College student spotted the shocking scene. A regular on the route, she said:
“I had to look twice. I was shocked that a professional driver was acting so recklessly, putting everyone and himself in danger.”
Quick on the draw, she snapped a clear photo showing the driver’s hand on the phone and eyes glued to the screen while still behind the wheel.
Parents Lodge Police Complaint After Disturbing Evidence
The student’s parents wasted no time, delivering a formal complaint to First Bus with the damning images. They have also reported the incident to the police, demanding swift justice.
First Bus Launches Investigation, Vows Action
A spokesman for First Bus said:
“We have been made aware of some images which show a driver using a mobile phone while at the wheel of one of our vehicles. We are currently identifying the driver and will investigate. We treat these incidents very seriously and thank the customer for bringing it to our attention.”
Passengers and locals will now watch closely to see how the bus company handles this dangerous breach of trust.
