Fire Chief Euros Edwards Honoured in 2024 New Year Honours

Euros Edwards: A Lifetime of Service

Watch Manager Euros Edwards has dedicated over 44 years to Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS), formerly Dyfed Fire Brigade. Starting his career in 1979, Euros quickly climbed the ranks, becoming Leading Firefighter in 1987 and Sub-Officer in 1988. Throughout his career, he has been a pillar of the Pembrokeshire community, especially at Crymych Fire Station, where he ensured high levels of availability and service.

Life-Saving Initiatives

In 1998, Euros pioneered a voluntary Co-Responder scheme in Crymych, supporting the local ambulance service and saving countless lives across north Pembrokeshire. His commitment didn’t stop there—he spearheaded a campaign that raised over £40,000 to fund a brand-new fire vehicle, demonstrating unwavering dedication to his community.

Recognition from the Top

Chief Fire Officer Roger Thomas praised Euros’ relentless work, saying:

“I am delighted that Euros’ commitment and dedication have been recognised by His Majesty the King in the 2024 New Year Honours List. This award recognises Euros’ hard work and lifelong devotion to his local community and the leadership that he has provided to the crew at Crymych Fire Station.”

Euros Edwards’ decades of heroic service clearly earn him a place among the nation’s most exceptional public servants.
