Body Found on Railway Line Near Chadwell Heath in Early Hours
Emergency services were called to a grim scene near Chadwell Heath railway station just after 2am on Tuesday. British Transport Police (BTP) and the London Fire Brigade (LFB) responded to reports of a person found deceased on the tracks.
Investigation Underway
Officers arrived around 2:18am following the casualty report. Paramedics also attended but sadly, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. BTP has launched an official investigation into the death.
So far, it’s unclear whether the deceased was a rail staff member or another individual. No details have been released on how long the person had been on the line or the exact circumstances leading to the tragedy.
Police Statement: No Suspicion at This Time
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “British Transport Police were called to the line near Goodmayes railway station at 2:18am this morning (08/12) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin. This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
