M25 Clockwise Shut After Huge Fuel Tanker Blaze at Junction 5

The M25 clockwise at Junction 5 near Sevenoaks is closed after a massive fire ripped through a fuel tanker early this morning. Emergency services were scrambled just after 5am when the tanker’s cab erupted in flames.

Firefighters and Police Race to Scene

Kent Fire and Rescue crews are battling the blaze alongside Kent Roads Policing officers. Highways England teams have also been called in to help manage the chaos.

Drivers Urged to Avoid the Area

  • Traffic is currently being held while the slip road, known as the Snake, is closed between Junction 5 Sevenoaks and Junction 6 Limpsfield.
  • Once cleared, drivers can use the A21 and rejoin the M25 clockwise at Junction 6.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “The vehicle is on the slip road heading towards Clacket Lane. The carriageway is currently closed. Fire crews are working hard on this incident. Please take extra care on the approach.”
