Grave Vandalism Shocks Reading Community
Several graves in a Reading churchyard were vandalised over the weekend, sparking outrage among locals.
Historic Tombs Smashed
Damage hit the lower part of the cemetery, with statues overturned and century-old tombs defaced, a spokesperson for St Mary’s Church confirmed.
Alcohol Bottles Found Scattered
Investigators also discovered a large number of empty alcohol bottles littered around the desecrated graves, fueling concerns about anti-social behaviour.
Visitors and Locals Left Distraught
Families visiting the cemetery today were left shocked and upset by the scenes. Many locals expressed disgust at the disrespect shown.
Safety fences have now been erected around the worst-affected graves to protect the damaged sites.
