Tragic M3 Crash Claims Life of Southampton Biker

The family of Michael James, a 40-year-old Southampton man, have paid moving tribute after he died in a horror collision on the M3.

Fatal Smash on M3 Southbound

Police were called to the scene just after 2pm on Friday, 21 May, where a black Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a white Volvo HGV lorry between junctions 8 and 9 on the southbound carriageway.

Paramedics sadly pronounced Michael dead at the scene.

Family Mourns “Tuns”

Michael, known affectionately as “Tuns” to friends and family, was remembered as a “great young man with a big heart.” A family spokesperson said:

“Mike was a great young man with a big heart who will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.”

“Things were never dull when Tuns was around. Our lives will never be the same without him—there’s a huge hole left in our hearts.”

Daughters Pay Emotional Tribute

His daughters Jessica, 21, and Megan, 16, added:

“We are heartbroken at losing our Dad. He was an amazing Dad and we loved him dearly. He will always be in our hearts.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Officers continue to investigate the crash. Anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to call 101, quoting reference number 44210196667.

The family also thanked emergency services and members of the public who helped on that tragic day.
