As demand skyrockets, dodgy sellers have started hawking counterfeit bottles and charging ridiculous prices. Ubuy.com experts warn shoppers to watch their wallets and spot the fakes before it’s too late.
“Like any high-demand product, the black market quickly churns out copies to make a quick buck at the consumer’s expense,” said Helen Whaldon, Ubuy.com’s international buying manager.
Counterfeit bottles are popping up in corner shops, on eBay, and all over the internet.

- Official bottles have five ridged patterns on the bottle; fakes only have three.
- Counterfeit bottles list capacity as 472ml, genuine ones say 473ml.
