Tragic Crash on A272 in Winchester Claims Motorcyclist’s Life
Emergency services rushed to the scene of a fatal collision on the A272 north of Morestead, Winchester, just after 12.40pm today. The smash involved a Land Rover Discovery, a Skoda, and a high-powered Yamaha motorbike.
Road Closures Cause Chaos
Police shut the A272 from the A31 junction up to the Owslebury turnoff. There’s also a closure for HGVs at the A32 junction further along. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
Motorcyclist Dies at Scene
Despite paramedics’ best efforts, the rider died instantly. It’s understood the motorbike hit the rear of the Skoda before being struck by the Land Rover. The crash happened near Cheesefoot Head car park.
Long Delays Expected as Investigation Underway
Police warn the road will be closed for hours to carry out a full collision investigation. Recovery crews will also clear the vehicles and deal with an oil spill caused by the motorbike, making the roads safe again.
