Raw Sewage Floods Guildford New Build for Fourth Time in Three Months
Fire crews from Surrey Fire and Rescue were scrambled to Austen House, Station View, Guildford, for the fourth time in just three months this Monday morning (November 27). Once again, raw sewage has flooded the basement electrical plant room, causing chaos for residents.
Firefighters Battle Sewage Flood After Smell of Burning
A resident raised the alarm after detecting a burning smell. Two fire engines rushed to the scene where crews called in UK Power engineers to safely isolate electricity from street level, as the flooded plant room was too dangerous to access.
New Build Already in Crisis—Power Cut and Sewage Stink
The building had only recently been signed off, less than four months after residents moved in. Yet, a fire alarm continues to blare from the basement car park, where raw sewage fumes fill corridors and the parking area.
Specialists will need to be brought in to tackle the 4-foot-deep sewage covering the electrical switching gear in the plant room. Residents are left powerless and unable to cook. One tenant told us the nightmare has dragged on for at least a day.
Faulty Pump Fuels Sewage Disaster
- Investigations reveal a secondary sewage pump, missing from official building plans, was never switched on.
- This pump should have helped remove waste but its failure contributed to the flooding.
The sewage crisis at Austen House highlights serious ongoing issues with this Guildford development, leaving residents frustrated and in the dark—literally.
