Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to New Road, Rochester, after reports of a fire in a three-storey block of flats on Monday evening. The alarm went off at 6.18pm.

Thick Black Smoke and Swift Action

Fire crews arrived to find thick black smoke billowing from an external flat roof on the ground floor. Using a hose reel, they battled the flames head-on.

Fire Under Control in 20 Minutes

The firefighters spent around 20 minutes damping down the blaze before leaving the scene just before 7pm. Thankfully, the swift response kept the damage limited and the flats safe.
