Fire Crews Rush to Wellington Barracks Near Buckingham Palace
Three fire crews were scrambled to Wellington Barracks just after 11pm on Tuesday night. The emergency call came in late from the heart of Westminster.
Strategic Military Site in Central London
Wellington Barracks is home to Foot Guards battalions on public duties. It sits only 300 yards from Buckingham Palace, so guards can respond quickly to any palace emergency. The barracks is sandwiched between Birdcage Walk and Petty France.
Three Foot Guards companies, all the Foot Guards bands, and the regimental HQ operate from this key military site.
