Tumble Dryer Blaze Sparks Fire Call-Out in Maidstone
Kent Fire and Rescue raced to a tumble dryer fire on Calder Road, Maidstone. Two fire engines and crews in breathing gear doused the flames with a hose reel jet, swiftly bringing the blaze under control.
Smoke Clears After Drying Danger
Firefighters deployed a high-pressure fan to clear thick smoke from the property. One resident suffered smoke inhalation and was treated by SECAmb paramedics at the scene.
Firefighters Issue Urgent Safety Warning
“We strongly encourage members of the public to remove tumble dryer lint after every use, and to register household appliances to ensure they are safe to use,” said Colin King, Area Manager for Customer Safety and Engagement.
Experts urge householders to keep tumble dryers, dishwashers, and washing machines clear of clutter. They also warn against leaving appliances running overnight or when away – a risky move that can cause overheating or faults.
Don’t Risk It – Install Smoke Alarms
“Make sure you have at least one working smoke alarm on each level of your home,” Colin King added. “This gives you and your loved ones crucial time to escape if fire breaks out.”
