Huge Blaze Erupts on Roof of NYC Luxury Tower
A massive fire erupted atop a swanky apartment building in New York’s Hudson Yards today, sending thick black smoke choking across the Manhattan skyline. The inferno broke out around noon on the rooftop of The Set at 455 10th Avenue and West 35th Street.
80 Firefighters Battle the Blaze
The New York Fire Department (FDNY) swiftly dispatched roughly 80 firefighters to tackle the rooftop fire. Dramatic photos and videos flooded social media, showing huge plumes of smoke visible miles away, sparking alarm citywide.
“A building in Hudson Yards is burning right now. Took these images from my bedroom and called 911. Prayers,” tweeted local resident Jade Nash.
Another witness added, “A large fire has erupted from the roof of a midtown Manhattan skyscraper filling the skies over New York City with thick smoke.”
Fire Contained, No Injuries Reported
New York City Council member Erik Bottcher confirmed on X/Twitter that the blaze was fully contained. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
The FDNY later gave the “all clear,” with firefighters beginning to pack up. Traffic in the Hudson Yards area was briefly disrupted as crews secured the scene and checked for any structural damage.
Investigation Underway as City Praises Firefighters
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. City officials praised the FDNY’s rapid response, crediting them for containing the flames and protecting the public.
