This morning, firefighters from three stations raced to tackle a fiery inferno at Merrie Farm Park in Lake. A colossal 23-tonne excavator erupted in flames, sending thick smoke billowing skyward and sparking fears the new KFC had caught fire.
£250,000 Digger Devoured by Flames
The blaze tore through the cab of the £250,000 plant machine. Fire crews from Shanklin, Sandown, and Ryde responded with three fire engines to the scene shortly after 10am.
Firefighters Battle Blaze in Breathing Apparatus
Teams battled the fire using breathing apparatus, two hose reels, and a covering jet to bring the mighty blaze under control. The dramatic incident caused major smoke clouds visible across the area.
