Massive Blaze Hits Stratford High-Rise Flat

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters rushed to tackle a fierce fire that ripped through a 12th-floor flat on Waddington Road, Stratford.

Four-Room Flat Ravaged by Flames

Most of the flat’s four rooms were badly damaged. Firefighters in breathing apparatus rescued one woman, leading her to safety via an internal staircase. She was treated on the scene before being rushed to hospital.

Swift Action Brings Fire Under Control

Station Commander Clive Robinson said, “Crews worked swiftly to bring the fire under control and are expected to remain on scene throughout the morning.”

The fire brigade received the call at 5.28am and had the blaze under control by 7.11am. Firefighters from Stratford, Leyton, Poplar, Plaistow, Leytonstone, and nearby stations all pitched in to fight the fire.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the blaze remains unknown and is currently under investigation.
