Fire Breaks Out at Portsmouth Flats – Quick-Thinking Firefighters Douse Blaze

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue crews raced to a fire at a block of flats on Goldsmith Avenue, Portsmouth, just after 12:15pm on Friday 18th March 2022.

Rapid Response from Southsea and Portchester Teams

Fire engines from Southsea and Portchester, along with a specialist aerial ladder platform (ALP), were sent straight to the scene.

Top Floor Flat Fire Quickly Snuffed Out

Firefighters rapidly tackled the blaze on the top floor, using a fire extinguisher to put it out before it could spread. Positive pressure ventilation (PPV) cleared the smoke from the building.

Thankfully, no casualties were reported.

Blaze Under Investigation

A full investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway as crews look to piece together what sparked the incident.
