Car Smashes Minibus Into Tooting Primary School!
Chaos erupted on Beclands Road, Tooting, as a car crashed into a parked minibus outside a primary school — pushing it straight into the school building!
Driver Flees, Shocked at the Scene
The driver of the car fled before firefighters arrived but was later treated for shock by London Ambulance Service crews at the scene.
“The motorist had collided with a parked minibus and it was pushed into part of the school,” said Station Commander Mark Nunan. “A nearby fence was also damaged.”
Children Safe as No One Injured
Luckily, no children were in the classroom at the time and no one was hurt in the smash.
Firefighters Secure Site and Deal with Burst Pipe
Fire crews quickly secured the area and cordoned off the building. They also tackled salvage work after a burst pipe flooded parts of the school.
“Crews worked with a council structural engineer to confirm the building’s safety,” added Commander Nunan.
The London Fire Brigade rushed to the scene at 8.02 a.m., wrapping up the incident by 9.58 a.m. Two engines from Tooting Fire Station plus two fire rescue units from Wimbledon and Heston were involved in the operation.
