Flybe Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Belfast with Nose Gear Up
A Flybe flight pulled off a dramatic emergency landing at Belfast Airport after the front nose gear failed to deploy. The Bombardier Dash 8 took to the skies at 11:20am but hit trouble when the pilot spotted the nose wheel issue.
Two Hours Circling to Dump Fuel
The aircraft spent nearly two hours burning fuel to lighten the load before touching down just after 1:30pm. The pilot declared an emergency early Friday morning at around 12:30am, with the landing finally taking place at 1:43pm on runway 25.
Runway Closed as Emergency Crews Rush In
The plane landed nose gear up, forcing officials to close the runway for emergency response. Services rushed to the scene while passengers and crew were evacuated safely. So far, no injuries have been reported.
Flybe Issues Brief Statement
“We are aware of an incident involving one of our aircraft,” Flybe said. “We are getting more information and will provide updates as soon as possible.”
The Dash 8 can carry up to 78 passengers, but exact numbers on this flight have not been confirmed. More details will be released as the story develops.
