Tragic Killing Rocks Peterborough
Four suspects have been arrested after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Peterborough. Police rushed to Riseholme, near the Orton Centre, just before 7pm on Sunday, 12 April, following reports of an attack on a teenager. The boy was taken to the hospital but tragically died later that evening. Detectives are now treating the case as murder.
Suspects Held for Murder and Aiding Offenders
- A 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man from Peterborough were arrested on suspicion of murder.
- A 17-year-old girl from Peterborough faces charges for assisting an offender.
- A 16-year-old girl from March was also arrested for assisting an offender and possession of a bladed article.
All four remain in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.
Police Launch Major Inquiry
A cordon is in place around the Orton Centre and police have promised a heightened presence in the coming days to reassure the community. Detective Chief Inspector Richard Stott from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Major Crime Unit said: “This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the death of a young man. We are in contact with his family and keeping them updated.” He added, “While we understand this will concern local people, we do not believe this was a random attack. There will be a significant police presence in the area over the coming days.” DCI Stott urged anyone with information or CCTV footage related to the attack to come forward immediately.
